Job Description & Responsibilities:

This position is for a senior software engineer who will join a multidisciplinary team of experts in bioinformatics, deep learning, computer vision and cloud technologies. You will help lead the development of python applications for use in precision medicine. You will be involved in mentoring junior python engineers, advising on engineering strategies, providing guidance on key architectural design decisions and helping oversee the delivery of software products to Sonrai clients and stakeholders.

Sonrai has a Belfast office, offers a flexible working environment, and is remote-friendly.

Essential Criteria:
  • Expertise in Python
  • Experience working within the full software development life cycle (software version control, design, testing and deployment)
  • Experience developing with Python Web App Frameworks (e.g. Dash, Streamlit, Django)
  • Experience within Web Server/API Technologies (e.g. FastAPI, Flask, Gunicorn, NGINX)
  • Experience interacting with databases (e.g Postgres)
  • Experience in cloud technologies ( e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Experience in mentoring junior engineers
  • Team player, self-motivated
  • Desire to learn, adopt a growth mindset and strong collaborative abilities
  • Right to work in the UK or Ireland
Desirable Criteria:
  • Experience in containerisation tools (e.g. Docker)
  • Experience with Javascript (e.g. React, Angular)
  • Experience using deep learning frameworks (e.g. TensorFlow, Keras and PyTorch)
  • Experience in bioinformatics, digital and computational pathology
  • Experience in developing software as a medical device (SaMD)
  • Experience with parallel computing (e.g. Dask, Multiprocessing)
